Having your first injectable treatment? Here’s your guide to finding the right clinic

Whether you’re looking to balance your face, manage the fine lines associated with ageing or refresh your look, the most important step is choosing the right clinic for you.

There are some non-negotiables we wouldn’t settle for, and we thought it’d be helpful if we provided a list of essentials to helping you choose the right clinic.

Our team is led by Dr Jonny Betteridge, one of the most recognised faces in aesthetics in the UK. If you’ve followed Dr Jonny on social media for a while, you’ll know his style - it’s subtle and artistic so don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

Look for qualified, medically trained practitioners

Who is administering your treatment should be at the very top of your priority list: are they medically trained? Would they know where to inject you, and could they support you if you had a reaction?

There are some major arteries in your face, and you might have seen some horror stories online about treatments that have gone wrong. Sadly, there are very few regulations in the UK about who can administer treatments, so the first thing we’d advise is looking for somebody who is medically trained.

Here at JB Aesthetics, all of the highly experienced doctors worked alongside Dr Jonny in the NHS, so you’re in the safest of hands.

Their experience in aesthetics

Just because they’re medically trained, it doesn’t mean they’re experienced in aesthetics. To be a great aesthetics doctor, you need to be artistic and have an eye of where to put filler or botox, so we’d look to see how long they’ve been working in aesthetics and what their results look like (do they go for a more subtle approach, for example)

You’ll then be able to find the right aesthetic doctor for you, based on the types of results you’re after. Here are our results, as an example.

What’s the consultation process like?

A detailed, thorough in-person consultation is a really good sign - one where you’re not being pushed into having multiple treatments, but you’re telling the doctor exactly what you’re looking for.

If you feel hurried or not listened to, that’s also a bad sign.

Find a balance between artistry and restraint

The first time you have injectables it shouldn’t be dramatic - it should be enhancing, not completely transforming. Great practitioners look to keep their results soft and natural by respecting your expressions, rather than just wiping them away.

Real reviews

Before you book, please see what others are saying.

We’d recommend checking Google (we have hundreds of 5 star reviews) as well as looking for comments under social media posts of the clinic. It can be really reassuring when you know others have had a brilliant experience.
